We welcome our newest members, painter Vincent Joseph and mixed media artist Carol Spence. Joseph’s paintings explore the link between imagination and nature. Spence’s collaged paintings play with the creative tension between the real and the abstract, with layers of expressive lines, color patterns, and figurative elements. The show will run June 30–July 31, 2022, with an opening reception on Friday, July 1, 5–8pm.

The wonders of perception are the inspiration for my paintings. Seeing nature with all my subjectivity, in my studio and outside, easily becomes a subject. My paintings give back another “nature” in drawing/feeling and color/thinking in hope of expressing some of the mystery and joy always unfolding in the act of seeing.
This collection focuses on the play between figures and mark making . Experiments with media, observational drawings, collage elements and bits of text create relationships where none existed before.
Admission to the gallery is free and open to the public.
