New Member Show

State of the Art Gallery presents the work of two new members.

In Open Concept, Austin MacRae’s paintings explore the nature of space and light. Many of the compositions pivot around the notion that “inside” and “outside” are intertwined rather than discrete or oppositional. Intimate spaces shift and blur into the natural world; water erodes shells of houses; familiar local landmarks merge with fragments of memories.

In Adrift, Keith Millman presents photographs made from two feet above the water while sitting in his canoe paddling around lakes in the Adirondacks. Serene and abstract, you can get to these lakes, but you cannot see what the pictures show. They do not exist. They never existed, except as photographs.

The show will run from April 3–27, 2025. An opening reception will be held on Friday, April 4, 5–8pm.
