  1. I love Cindy’s work! I’ve been to her studio and walking in makes me feel like a kid in a candy store, kind of how I imagine Charlie felt when first entering the Wonka chocolate factory. In her artist statement – which I thought was very well written and professional – Cindy talks about the joy she experiences in her art and how she wants to bring that joy to others. I absolutely feel that in the presence of her paintings. And given the state of our country today, I am grateful to have that experience.

But beyond that, Cindy would bring passion, organization, dedication and a savvy skill set to the gallery. She may not have the longest art-related CV of all of our candidates, but what she has accomplished over the past year is quite impressive. In short, I second everything that Diana said.

I do have a question: Did we specify that any work submitted must say NFS? I know that Cindy sells her work. I was baffled to see NFS by everything.

    1. Re the NFS, I am guessing that when asked to submit their images, the applicants were not asked to include prices. The code that Tim Larkin wrote for the on-line shows will default to NFS if no price is listed. So I believe that is why ALL of the images show they are not for sale.

  2. When Cindy came in to pick up her work, she and I had a good talk about SOAG committees. She wanted to be sure she could manage what’s needed to serve on the requested number of committees. “Participate in running the gallery by working regularly on at least one major committee and by helping out with sub tasks from other committees that the gallery needs.”
You can see the committees listed on our website under Join. We talked about the committees listed and about starting new events (ie: Look Club) when you see a need. I’m confident that Cindy would be a big help to the gallery.

  3. I absolutely love her colors and joyful paintings. I would imagine that her 30 yr life dedication to the world of architecture and interior design would make her a great candidate for SOAG. It proves that she is dedicated.

  4. I would love to have Cindy as part of our SOAG community for all the reasons that folks have shared.
I also feel like she is the only candidate that brings art , skills and energy to the mix and we might consider
just adding one new member this round.

  5. Cindy has been a committed member of the art community in the last year. Her paintings have a clear focus on the subject and style and are beautifully presented with more of her original artistic creation. She has nice and attractive personality and has great professional experience in business. She will be a good addition to our group!

  6. I like Cindy’s work a lot; now that she is painting both plein air and from her own photographs I believe the former issue of originality is no longer an issue… and she uses her sources as jumping-off points, not as knee-jerk guides. I also like her energy and believe she would be an active member. There is no one else in our group who has the same vision and she would be a stimulating addition to the group. Looking at her record, it is clear that she is truly dedicated to her artistic path.

  7. Original/artistic vision. as compared with her presentation last year, her subject matter continues with the same through line in this new series as we saw in the past. Clearly it is a focus that seems to be important to her and is something she has been working on for a while, The paintings on the web are beautiful but the paintings seen in reality in the gallery are powerful and compelling. I would love to see this work in our gallery

Last year she showed an ability to use color to good effect, using contrast of hue to create eye popping results, and her Effective use of materials and approaches to composition. hace grown during the past year, she is using her own photos, becoming more aware of of how to use the whole plane in an integrated. and cohesive whole.

she shows a strong record of accomplishment and commitment to art making and showing, as seen by the growth of her skills, her presence on instagram, and her resume.

Professional presentation of work. Her paintings are well presented, even without frames, and maybe because there are no frames, they are a powerful force against the gallery wall and are in keeping with our gallery standards

Understanding of member responsibilities. Having gone through an application process once already, she has a good understanding of gallery tasks and has skills that would be a good addition to our gallery work force. She has a track record of being successful in a creative business.

  8. I’ve been ollowing Cindy on Facebook, I’ve seen her work develop with more uniqueness as she presents her themes. She’s personable, responsible, energetic, capable and clearly a hard worker. Her art and her energy would make her a great member of SOAG.

    1. I agree wholeheartedly with Patty Porter’s statements . I have met with Cindy on multiple occasions to get to know her, to learn how her work history contributes to her art-making, and to see how her work has developed over the year. I have enjoyed my conversations with this bright, delightful artist, who is truly committed to her work. Cindy has strong promotional skills with social media and in person, far beyond my know how. She is a responsible organizer and team player as shown in her work history in design and architecture, Cindy talked about a project, the design of a delivery room suite; the symbolism used throughout and how the space supported the birthing mother, families, and the hospital staff. I was impressed with the depth of thoughtful and sophisticated ideas especially in combination with all the technical skills required. Cindy is both comfortable and savvy with a range of digital tools. I continue to be impressed with her energetic use of color and strong compositions in her paintings. I am happy to see her exploring a variety of color palettes, using her own photographs as source material. There is more range in her expression now, and she dwells in possibility for new ideas and growth in her work. I believe her work will sell well in the gallery and we have no other members who one who paints like she does.

  9. Excellent artwork. She applied last time and continues to apply for juried shows at the gallery. Very active in t he art community. She would be a huge asset for the gallery.
