My creative process begins with a spark of intention. I may be attracted to a color combination, the contrast of light and dark, or a subject that I’d like to explore. From that beginning idea, each painting becomes a puzzle that I am putting together. What techniques, color palette, viewpoint, or symbols fit into the whole? The end result is more than my initial intention. I love to explore and learn. The process of creating and seeing what happens on the canvas feeds me new ideas and discoveries. Every painting I create feels like a conversation between me as the artist, and the artwork itself.
